U.S. Masters Swimming

Don't let the name scare you - you don't have to be an expert to participate. Men and women, ages 18 to 100+, can participate! Masters swimming is an adult aquatic fitness program for individuals who have chosen aquatics as their means of exercise for a healthier lifestyle. U.S. Masters Swimming programs are for ALL ABILITIES and for individual goals for what you wish to accomplish. Masters has a small fee per year and a lot of support from fellow swimmers. The YMCA can be your affiliated team when going to Masters Swim Meets - our swim name and how to register is on this page. No coach or regular schedule for practices are available at the Bob Freesen YMCA at this time, but workouts will be available on the pool deck for you to share with other Masters Swimmers (just remember to leave them on deck so all can benefit from them). You don't have to have any swim meet experience to try a meet. You will find a great group of people who will help you and cheer you on at any Masters Swim Meet. Just try it once and you will be hooked.  You can even go and do only one or two events of your choice.

Swimming is an activity that burns lots of calories, is easy on the joints, supports your weight, builds muscular strength and endurance, improves cardiovascular fitness, cools you off and refreshes you in summer, and one that you can do safely into old age.

Lap Swim

Designated lanes to swim laps are available at different times of the day and evening. Lap Swimming Tips - there are more members than lanes, so if there are 1 or 2 swimmers in a lane, they may elect to split the lane in half. If a their person comes to the lane, it immediately changes to circle swimming format. (Swim in a clockwise motion down one side of the line on one way and the other side of the line on the way back. A diagram is provided in the pool area if you have any questions.) But be prepared to share with other members.

Adult Swim Lessons

Adult Swim Lessons are available when instructors are available. Call the aquatics director to see if you can arrange some lessons if you are interested.
